Best cable alternatives in 2026: cut the cord without losing channels
Searches for alternatives to Comcast, Xfinity, Spectrum and Cox share one goal: keep the channels, drop the box fee and the contract. The legal streaming bundles below do that, and the free services at the end cover the rest.
Which bundle replaces which cable tier
A basic cable tier maps to Philo or Sling; a standard tier with locals and sports maps to YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV; a premium tier with regional sports networks maps to Fubo or DIRECTV Stream CHOICE. Add an antenna for locals in HD and the picture quality is usually better than cable.
What you give up
Cable channels that are not on any bundle are rare now, but regional sports networks and some local independents remain patchy. Check the ZIP-code channel list on each service before cancelling.
The hidden costs
Streaming bundles need 25 Mbps per 4K screen and raise prices almost every year. Internet-only plans from the same cable company often cost more than the bundle price, so compare the full bill, not the TV line.
